End User Licence Agreement (EULA) — Afterlife Horizon Online Launcher and Client
These texts are drafted in French and are also offered to you in English. If the two versions differ, the version that is most favourable to you applies.
English translation of the French version 0.9.
Version 0.9, in force as of 13 October 2026, during the Alpha.
The essentials in one minute
This summary helps you read the agreement; it does not replace it.
- A licence, not a sale. The Publisher allows you to install the Launcher and the Client and to use them to play, on a personal basis. During the Alpha, it is free of charge; access to the Game also requires an Access Key.
- Rights that the law preserves for you, whatever the agreement says: making a backup copy, studying how the Software works, obtaining interoperability information (article 5).
- Prohibited: cheating or using an Unauthorised Program, modifying or redistributing the Software, using an unofficial client or server, extracting the Game elements (article 6).
- Updates: the Launcher updates itself at every start-up; a Client Update marked as mandatory must be installed in order to play. They are free of charge, and you may refuse a change that genuinely harms you (article 7).
- Cheating is currently fought by checks on our servers, not by a program installed on your computer. No sanction is decided by a machine alone (article 8).
- What the Software records on your computer, and what it sends, is summarised in Annex A.
- You keep the legal guarantee of conformity (garantie légale de conformité) and your right to compensation (articles 14 and 15).
- You can stop whenever you want. The Publisher may only terminate the licence in the cases provided for, with a reason and the possibility of challenging it (article 13).
- French law, without depriving you of the protections of your country; you may bring a case before the court of your domicile (article 20).
1. Purpose and related documents
1.1. This end user licence agreement (the “EULA”) is concluded between the Publisher and you, the Player who accepts it.
1.2. It grants you the right to install and use the Software — the Launcher and the Client — as well as their Updates, and it states what you may not do with them.
1.3. It supplements the General Terms of Use (the “Terms of Use”), which govern your Account and the Service, and which are presented to you at the same time as it, before you accept it. Other documents will be added to it, each presented in turn before you accept it: the Code of Conduct, which will form part of the Terms of Use; the Testers' Agreement, if you are a Tester; the General Terms of Sale (the “Terms of Sale”), for any purchase in the Shop, once it exists.
The privacy policy, published on the Site, informs you of how your data is used; it is not a contract.
1.4. The EULA governs the use of the Software; the Terms of Use govern your Account and the rest of the Service; the Testers' Agreement governs the Alpha; the Terms of Sale govern each purchase. If two of these documents contradict each other, the one that specifically governs the matter prevails; in case of doubt, the interpretation most favourable to you applies.
1.5. No document that is not cited in this article and made available to you before your acceptance binds you.
2. Definitions
Words that begin with a capital letter have the meaning below, common to all the documents of the Publisher. “You” means the Player who accepts the EULA.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Publisher | The person who publishes and operates the Game and the Service under the name “Reloaders”, who can be contacted at support@afterlife-game.com. Until the company Reloaders is registered, the Publisher is the creator of the Game, a natural person who operates it on a non-professional basis; their full identity is disclosed to any authority that requests it, and to you if you need it to exercise a right. As soon as it is registered, the company takes the creator's place, under the conditions of article 19. |
| Game | The massively multiplayer online video game “Afterlife Horizon Online” (called “Nebula” during the Alpha), with its updates and its servers. |
| Service | Everything that the Publisher provides around the Game: the Game, the Software, the Site, the Account, the Game chat, support and, once it exists, the shop. |
| Site | The websites https://afterlife-game.com and https://spacefate.com, and their public subdomains. |
| Account | The personal account, created with an email address and a password, that gives access to the Service. |
| Player | Any natural person who creates an Account or uses the Service. A Tester is a Player. |
| Alpha | The test phase of the Game, free of charge and by invitation, which precedes its opening to the public. Paid early access (for example on Steam) is not the Alpha: it falls under the terms of sale. |
| Access Key | The personal code provided by the Publisher that opens the Alpha to an Account. |
| Tester | A Player admitted to the Alpha by means of a personal Access Key, who has accepted the test agreement. |
| Testers' Agreement | The agreement for the testers of the Alpha, which will be presented to the Tester for acceptance; it will supplement the Terms of Use during the Alpha and will prevail over them for the matters it governs. |
| Launcher | The Windows software of Afterlife Horizon Online (the file “NebulaLauncher.exe”) that creates the Account, signs the Player in, and installs, updates and launches the Client. |
| Client | The Game software installed on the Player's computer. |
| Software | The Launcher and the Client, together. |
| Update | Any new version of the Launcher or of the Client, or of their data, published by the Publisher: a fix, a security update, new content, a technical or balancing change. |
| Content | Any information that a Player provides or publishes by means of the Service: username, chat messages, guild or preset names, reports, test feedback, screenshots and videos. The elements created by the Publisher (graphics, sounds, texts, universe) are not Content: they are the “Game elements”. |
| Virtual Item | Any Game element that the Player obtains by playing or, once the shop exists, by purchasing it (ship, equipment, resource, appearance…), which the Player may use in the Game under a personal licence and which has no monetary value outside the Game. |
| Virtual Currency | A unit of account specific to the Game (currently the “credits” earned by playing; in the future, where applicable, a purchased currency), usable only in the Game to obtain Virtual Items or Game services. It is neither legal tender nor electronic money, and it cannot be converted into money, except in the cases provided for by law and by the terms of sale. |
| Shop | The sales area of the Service, on the Site, in the Launcher or in the Game, where the Player chooses and orders Offers; the payment itself is always made on the page of the Payment Provider. |
| Unauthorised Program | Any software, hardware, script or process, other than the Software, that reads or modifies the operation of the Game, its memory, its files or its exchanges with the servers, or that plays in the Player's place, in order to gain an advantage or to harm the Service: cheating software, bot, automation macro, injector, unofficial client or server. |
| Third-Party Component | A piece of software, a library, a font, or a graphic or sound resource created by an author other than the Publisher, built into the Software under its own licence (Unity engine, free software libraries, resources purchased on the Asset Store). |
| Tracker | Any operation that reads information already stored on a user's device, or that writes information to it (cookie, browser storage, file, registry, device identifier), within the meaning of article 82 of French Act no. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 (loi Informatique et Libertés). |
| General Terms of Use (“Terms of Use”; in French, “CGU”) | The contract that governs access to the Service and its use, concluded between the Publisher and each Player; the Code of Conduct forms part of it. |
| Code of Conduct | The document that states what is prohibited in the Service and in the Official Community Spaces, the possible Moderation Measures, Reports and challenges; it forms part of the Terms of Use. |
| Moderation Measure | Any decision that the Publisher takes because Content is illegal or contrary to the Terms of Use, or because a Player does not comply with them: a reminder of the rules, removal or hiding of Content, muting in the chat, a username to be changed, removal of Virtual Items or Virtual Currency obtained illegitimately, suspension or closure of the Account, withdrawal of access to the Alpha. |
| Official Community Spaces | The online spaces that the Publisher administers outside the Service, such as the Discord server of the Game; they also remain subject to the terms of the platform that hosts them. |
| General Terms of Sale (“Terms of Sale”; in French, “CGV”) | The contract that governs each purchase of an Offer in the Shop, concluded between the Player and the Seller; it supplements the Terms of Use. |
| End User Licence Agreement (“EULA”; in French, “CLUF”) | The contract that grants the Player the right to install and use the Software, and that states what the Player may not do with it; it supplements the Terms of Use. |
3. Acceptance of the EULA
3.1. Before installing or using the Software, read the EULA. The Launcher presents it to you, together with the Terms of Use, the first time it is launched on each computer, then at each new version of either of these texts. You accept them by clicking “I accept”; “Quit” closes the Launcher without saving anything. As long as you have not accepted them, the Launcher does not let you create an Account, sign in, or install or launch the Client.
3.2. If you do not accept it, do not install the Software, or uninstall it.
3.3. The Launcher keeps a record of your acceptance on your computer: the version number of the EULA, its digital fingerprint, which identifies the exact text accepted, and the date and time of your acceptance. Each version is archived without modification. Upon simple request to support@afterlife-game.com, the Publisher sends you the successive versions of the EULA, including the one that you accepted.
3.4. Upon simple request to support@afterlife-game.com, the Publisher sends you the EULA in force and its previous versions; they will also be published on the Site.
3.5. Everyone uses the Service with their own Account from the age of 15, the minimum age set by the Terms of Use; before that age, a child only plays on the Account of one of their parents, who accepts the EULA on the child's behalf (Terms of Use, articles 5 and 6). If you are under 18, talk to your parents about it and read the EULA with them.
3.6. If you were already using the Launcher before the publication of the EULA, the Launcher presents the EULA to you at its next start-up; you continue playing as soon as you have accepted it.
4. The licence that the Publisher grants you
4.1. The Publisher grants you a licence to use the Software:
- personal: it is attached to you and to your Account;
- non-exclusive: the Publisher grants the same licence to other Players;
- non-transferable: you may not sell, rent, lend or give it away, nor sub-license it;
- for private and non-commercial use: playing the Game with your Account, in compliance with the Terms of Use and the Code of Conduct;
- for the term of the EULA (article 13);
- worldwide, to the extent that the Service is offered there and that local law permits it.
4.2. It covers the Launcher and the Client, each in the version that you install, then in the Updates that replace it.
4.3. During the Alpha, the licence is free of charge; access to the Game also requires an Access Key, under the conditions of the Terms of Use and of the Testers' Agreement. If paid access to the Game is offered later, its purchase will fall under the Terms of Sale; the EULA will continue to govern the Software.
4.4. You may install the Software on one or more computers that you legitimately use: your own, or that of a third party with their consent.
4.5. You buy neither the Software nor a copy of it: you receive the right to use it. The Publisher and its licensors remain its owners (article 10).
4.6. Download the Launcher only from the download page of the Site, or from a store designated by the Publisher; the Client is installed only through the Launcher. A copy obtained in any other way is not covered by the EULA and may contain malicious software.
4.7. The licence can only end in the cases provided for in article 13. The Publisher cannot withdraw it from you at its sole discretion.
5. What the law guarantees you, whatever the EULA says
No clause of the EULA can deprive you of the following rights, which article L122-6-1 of the French Intellectual Property Code (code de la propriété intellectuelle) grants to any person who has the right to use a software program.
5.1. Using the Software in accordance with its intended purpose, including through the technical reproductions that this requires: installation, loading, display, execution, storage. The Publisher reserves the right to correct the errors of the Software: if you find one, report it (article 16) rather than modifying the Software.
5.2. Making a backup copy when it is necessary to preserve the use of the Software. The Launcher already keeps the archive of the installed version of the Client, and can download it again at any time.
5.3. Observing, studying or testing the operation or the security of the Software, in order to understand the ideas and principles on which it is based, during a use that you are entitled to make (loading, display, execution, transmission, storage).
5.4. Obtaining the information necessary for interoperability. You may reproduce or translate the code of the Software when this is indispensable to obtain the information necessary for the interoperability of a software program that you create independently, under the conditions of the law: only for the necessary parts, only if this information has not already been made readily available to you, and without using it for any other purpose or communicating it to third parties, unless interoperability requires it. Before doing so, ask the Publisher for it at support@afterlife-game.com: it replies to you within one month.
5.5. These rights do not allow you to prejudice the normal exploitation of the Software or to cause unjustified harm to the Publisher. They authorise you neither to use an Unauthorised Program in the Game, nor to access the servers of the Publisher without authorisation: such conduct remains prohibited by article 6 and by the Code of Conduct.
6. What you undertake not to do
Subject only to the rights of article 5, you undertake not to:
6.1. reproduce the Software beyond what its use and the backup copy require;
6.2. distribute, publish, sell, rent, lend or make available the Software or its files, in whole or in part, in any form whatsoever (download site, file sharing, server). Sharing the link to the download page of the Site remains permitted;
6.3. modify, adapt, translate, correct or “patch” the Software, or create a derivative work from it (modification, “mod”, code or library injection), except by means of a tool provided by the Publisher or with its written authorisation;
6.4. decompile, disassemble or seek to reconstruct the source code of the Software, outside the cases of article 5;
6.5. circumvent, disable or alter a technical measure that protects the Software or the Service: verification of the signature of Updates, integrity check of the Client, Access Key, encryption of your sign-in information;
6.6. use an Unauthorised Program, or develop, distribute or promote one;
6.7. intercept, modify, falsify, inject or replay the exchanges between the Client and the servers of the Publisher in order to gain an advantage or to harm the Service. Observing them to understand how the Software works remains permitted (article 5.3);
6.8. connect to the Game with anything other than the official Client, or create, use or join an unofficial server (emulator, private server) that reproduces the Game;
6.9. extract the Game elements from the files of the Software — three-dimensional models, textures, sounds, music, texts, data — in order to publish, reuse or exploit them outside the Game;
6.10. use the Software or the Game elements for commercial purposes without the written authorisation of the Publisher: paid progression or “boosting” services, sale of Virtual Items, of Virtual Currency or of Accounts, making the Game available against payment in a place open to the public. Screenshots, videos and live streams fall under the Terms of Use and, during the Alpha, under article 8 of the Terms of Use;
6.11. remove or modify the notices of ownership, trademark or licence that appear in the Software;
6.12. use the Software or the Game elements to train an artificial intelligence system or for text and data mining: the Publisher objects to it, within the meaning of article L122-5-3 of the French Intellectual Property Code;
6.13. use the Software to access the systems of the Publisher or of other Players without authorisation, to disrupt their operation or to extract data from them.
6.14. What remains permitted. Software that neither reads nor modifies the Game is not an Unauthorised Program. The following, in particular, remain permitted: voice communication software and its screen overlays; video capture and streaming software; platform overlays (Steam, Discord); accessibility tools; drivers for gamepads, joysticks and rudder pedals and their configuration software, provided that a key or a button triggers a single action of the Game, at the moment you press it. A macro that chains several actions, or that acts in your place, is an Unauthorised Program. If in doubt, ask support@afterlife-game.com before using a piece of software.
6.15. If you do not comply with this article, the Publisher may take a proportionate Moderation Measure, under the conditions of the Code of Conduct (reasons, review by a person, challenge), and, for a serious breach, terminate the EULA under the conditions of article 13.4. The same acts may constitute an infringement (contrefaçon) or a criminal offence.
7. Updates
7.1. Why the Software changes. The Publisher publishes Updates in order to: keep the Software in conformity and secure; correct errors; combat cheating and abuse; remain compatible with Windows, drivers and the servers of the Service; comply with a legal obligation or the decision of an authority; rebalance the Game; add content or features; evolve the technology of the Game. Each Update is free of charge.
7.2. The Launcher updates itself. At each start-up, before any other action, it asks the server of the Publisher whether a more recent version exists. If so, it downloads it, checks its electronic signature and its fingerprint, then replaces itself and restarts. It never reverts to an older version; if a check fails, it keeps the installed version. These Updates are mandatory: an old version of the Launcher may no longer allow you to sign in, to install the Client or to launch it.
7.3. The Client is updated through the Launcher. The Launcher checks whether a new version of the Client exists when it opens, then every five minutes while its dashboard remains displayed, and before each launch of the Game. It informs you of it; you install it in one click. An Update marked as mandatory must be installed before playing, because only compatible versions can join the servers. An optional Update can wait.
7.4. Information. The Launcher displays the notes of each version. Before an Update that significantly changes your use of the Software — a feature removed, system requirements raised, a program added to your computer (article 8.5) — the Publisher notifies you reasonably in advance, by an email sent to the address of your Account, which describes the change and its date.
7.5. Your right to refuse a change that harms you. If an Update that is not necessary to maintain the conformity of the Software has a negative impact, and not merely a minor one, on your access to the Software or on its use, you may terminate the EULA and the Terms of Use free of charge within thirty days following the information or the Update (the later date being the one that counts), unless the Publisher allows you to keep, free of charge, the unmodified version, in a state of conformity. The sums paid in advance for what will not be provided to you are then refunded to you, under the conditions of the Terms of Sale.
7.6. The Publisher provides the Updates, including security Updates, necessary to maintain the conformity of the Software for the entire period during which it provides you with the Service.
7.7. The Publisher is not liable for a lack of conformity that results solely from the non-installation, within a reasonable time, of an Update, where it had pointed out to you the availability of that Update and the consequences of not installing it, provided that its installation instructions were not at fault.
7.8. If you obtained the Launcher through a third-party store, such as Steam, that store updates it; the Client continues to be updated by the Launcher (article 17).
8. The fight against cheating and what the Software reads
8.1. The Game pits players against each other. To keep it fair, the Publisher checks the game data that the Client sends to the servers and verifies that the Software has not been altered.
8.2. What the servers check. While you play, the Client sends to the servers, about thirty times per second, the position, the orientation and the speeds of your ship, as well as your game commands, for example your shots and their direction. The servers check that these values remain within the physical limits of the Game, discard those that exceed them and count anomalies (teleportation, speed, acceleration). These checks concern the game data that the Client sends, and nothing else.
8.3. What the Launcher checks on your computer. The Launcher checks the signature and the fingerprint of each Update before installing it. Before each launch of the Game, it calculates the fingerprint of the executable file of the Client and compares it with the one it recorded at installation; if they differ, it refuses to launch the Client and offers to reinstall it. This check is carried out on your computer, and its result is not sent to the Publisher.
8.4. What the Software does not do. It installs no anti-cheat program and no driver on your computer; it reads neither the list of open programs, nor your personal files, nor the memory of other programs; it sends no capture of your screen; it sends the Publisher no identifier of your hardware.
8.5. If the Publisher adds an anti-cheat program to your computer, it will do so only after having notified you at least thirty days in advance (article 7.4), by publishing a new version of the EULA and of the Privacy Policy that describes what this program reads, when, what it sends and how long the Publisher keeps it, and by asking for your consent where the law requires it. If it operates at the level of the Windows kernel, the Publisher will also indicate it on the page of the Game in the stores that distribute it. You will be able to refuse this change under the conditions of article 7.5.
8.6. No sanction is decided by a machine alone. A detected anomaly is a signal: a person on the Publisher's team examines it before any Moderation Measure that targets you. You are given the reasons for any Moderation Measure — what is held against you, the rule concerned, and whether an automated tool was used — and you may challenge it, put forward your point of view and obtain a new review by a person, as the Code of Conduct provides.
8.7. The personal data processed by these checks, their purposes, their retention periods and your rights are described in the Privacy Policy. Annex A summarises what the Software writes and reads on your computer and what it sends.
9. System requirements and cooperation in the event of a defect
9.1. To use the Software, you need:
- a 64-bit computer running Windows 10 or Windows 11, powerful enough to run the Game; the minimum configuration will be published on the Site;
- the disk space needed for the Client and its Updates, which the Launcher checks before each installation, and more during an Update;
- a permanent Internet connection: the Game cannot be played offline;
- an Account and, during the Alpha, an Access Key.
9.2. The Software is designed neither for other systems (macOS, Linux, consoles) nor for emulation layers; the Publisher does not undertake that it will work on them.
9.3. If a defect appears, you agree to cooperate with the Publisher, to the extent of what is reasonably possible, necessary and least intrusive for you, in order to determine whether it comes from an incompatibility of your computer. Most often, it is enough to describe your configuration and to send the log of the Launcher, in which sensitive information is masked as soon as it is written. If you refuse to cooperate even though you have been informed of this obligation, it will be up to you to prove that the defect existed.
9.4. Some antivirus programs block a new file of the Launcher or of the Client. Do not disable your protection: add an exception for the folder of the Game, or write to support.
10. Intellectual property
10.1. The Software, its code, its documentation and the Game elements — universe, story, characters, ships, graphics, models, sounds, music, texts, interfaces — belong to the Publisher or to its licensors. They are protected by copyright and, for the Software, by the rules specific to software of the French Intellectual Property Code. The EULA assigns none of these rights to you; it only grants you the licence of article 4.
10.2. The name “Afterlife Horizon Online”, the name “Nebula” used during the Alpha, their logos and the other distinctive signs of the Publisher may not be used without its authorisation, except in the cases that the law or the Terms of Use permit.
10.3. Virtual Items and Virtual Currency are Game elements that you may use under the licence provided for by the Terms of Use, and by the Terms of Sale for what is purchased: they have no monetary value outside the Game and do not become your property. This does not allow the Publisher to withdraw from you without reason what you have paid for: the Terms of Use and the Terms of Sale state when and how they may be modified or withdrawn.
10.4. Your Content remains yours; the licence that you grant the Publisher to display it and make it work in the Service is defined by the Terms of Use, and that for the feedback of the Testers by the Testers' Agreement.
11. Third-Party Components
11.1. The Software contains Third-Party Components: the Unity game engine, free software libraries, fonts, and licensed graphic and sound resources. Their list and the notices that their licences require are sent to you upon simple request to support@afterlife-game.com; they will also be published on the Site and in the installation folder of the Software.
11.2. Each Third-Party Component remains subject to its own licence. Where a free licence (licence libre) grants you broader rights over a Third-Party Component than the EULA, those rights apply to that component, and the EULA does not restrict them.
11.3. The authors of the Third-Party Components are not parties to the EULA and owe you nothing under it. The undertakings of article 6 also apply to the Third-Party Components, in particular to the Unity engine, within the limits of the rights of article 5.
12. The test versions of the Alpha
12.1. During the Alpha, the Software and the Game are test versions, under development, reserved for Testers. The Terms of Use (article 8) and, once it has been presented to you, the Testers' Agreement supplement the EULA: confidentiality, screenshots and streams, feedback, resets, end of the Alpha.
12.2. A test version has deviations: errors, interruptions, losses or resets of progression, of Virtual Items and of Virtual Currency, balancing changes, missing or removed features. The Testers' Agreement will describe them to you and will have you accept them expressly and separately. Apart from these deviations, your legal rights remain intact.
12.3. During the Alpha, part of the exchanges between the Client and the servers travels without encryption: positions, game commands, chat messages. The connection to your Account, on the other hand, is encrypted. Do not write any confidential information in the Game, neither a password nor contact details.
12.4. The end of the Alpha does not end the licence: the Client is updated to the next version of the Game, and the rules specific to the Alpha cease under the conditions of the Testers' Agreement.
13. Term and end of the licence
13.1. The EULA is concluded for an indefinite term, from your acceptance.
13.2. You may terminate it at any time, free of charge and without giving a reason, by uninstalling the Software. Uninstalling does not delete your Account: to delete it, use “Delete my account” in the account settings of the Launcher, or write to support@afterlife-game.com. Annex A explains how to erase what the Software has written on your computer.
13.3. The EULA ends automatically (de plein droit) with your Account, whatever the reason.
13.4. Termination for serious breach. The Publisher may terminate the EULA if you seriously breach the undertakings of articles 6.4 to 6.8 and 6.13 — circumvention of a protection, Unauthorised Program, falsification of the exchanges, unofficial client or server, attack on the systems —, or repeatedly breach the other undertakings of article 6. It first sends you, by email, a formal notice (mise en demeure) that cites this clause, describes the facts and gives you eight days to cease the breach and to present your observations. It may dispense with this formal notice in an emergency: an attack on the security of the Service, of the Accounts or of the other Players, or fraud. During the examination, it may suspend your access as a precautionary measure, for the strictly necessary period. You are given the reasons for its decision; you may challenge it under the conditions of the Code of Conduct, and before the courts.
13.5. Termination without fault on your part. The Publisher may terminate the EULA, without any breach on your part, only if it ceases to operate the Game, or a version of the Software for a given platform. It then notifies you at least sixty days in advance, by email and in the Launcher, and refunds you the sums paid in advance for what will not be provided to you, under the conditions of the Terms of Sale.
13.6. When the EULA ends, you stop using the Software and you uninstall it. Articles 10, 14, 15, 19, 20 and 21 continue to apply to what happened before.
14. The legal guarantees
14.1. Where it applies, you benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity (garantie légale de conformité) for digital content and services provided for by articles L224-25-12 et seq. of the French Consumer Code (code de la consommation). As the Software is supplied continuously to give you access to the Service, it covers any lack of conformity that appears throughout the duration of this supply. It allows you to obtain, free of charge, the bringing into conformity or, failing that, a price reduction or the termination of the contract with a refund. No clause of the EULA can exclude it.
14.2. Conformity is assessed in light of the description of the Software — the EULA, in particular its articles 7 to 9, the page of the Game, the version notes — and of the qualities that may legitimately be expected of it, subject to the deviations specific to the Alpha (article 12).
14.3. To exercise the guarantee, write to support@afterlife-game.com describing the defect.
14.4. The other guarantees that the law grants you are not affected.
15. Liability and health
15.1. The Publisher is liable, under the ordinary rules of law (droit commun), for the damage that you suffer as a result of a breach of its obligations. Nothing in the EULA limits its liability in the event of bodily injury, gross negligence (faute lourde) or intentional misconduct (faute intentionnelle), nor deprives you of the legal guarantees.
15.2. As the law provides, the Publisher is only liable for the damage that was foreseeable when you accepted the EULA, except in the event of gross negligence or intentional misconduct, and only for the damage that is an immediate and direct consequence of its breach.
15.3. The Publisher is not liable for damage that results:
- from your own act, or from the act of a third party unconnected with the Publisher;
- from the use of an Unauthorised Program, or of a copy of the Software obtained outside the official sources (article 4.6);
- from a case of force majeure;
- from the incompatibility of your computer with the system requirements that were indicated to you (article 9);
- from the non-installation of an Update, under the conditions of article 7.7.
15.4. You are liable, under the ordinary rules of law, for the damage that you cause to the Publisher or to other Players by not complying with the EULA.
15.5. Your health. Some people may have an epileptic seizure when exposed to certain flashing lights or certain patterns. Read the warning in Annex B, and take regular breaks.
16. Reporting a security vulnerability
16.1. If you discover a security vulnerability in the Software or the Service, write to support@afterlife-game.com explaining how to reproduce it. Do not exploit it; do not disclose it before it is fixed nor, at the latest, before ninety days after your report; do not consult, copy or modify any data beyond what is strictly necessary to demonstrate it. If you access the data of other Players by accident, stop and report it.
16.2. Reporting a vulnerability in good faith, under these conditions, is never sanctioned: the Publisher will take no Moderation Measure against you and will bring no action against you on this ground.
16.3. The Publisher acknowledges receipt of your report within seven days and keeps you informed of its correction.
16.4. Errors that do not affect security (bugs) are reported through the means indicated in the Launcher or in the Official Community Spaces. Do not exploit a bug that gives you an advantage: the Code of Conduct prohibits it.
17. Steam and the other stores
17.1. If you obtain the Software through a third-party store, such as Steam, the contract of that store governs your account with it and what you purchase there, while the EULA governs the Software; the store presents the EULA to you as the licence agreement of the Game. A Game Account remains necessary, linked to your account with the store.
17.2. The store updates the Launcher (article 7.8) and makes refunds according to its own rules, without prejudice to the rights that the law gives you against the Publisher.
18. Modification of the EULA
18.1. The Publisher may modify the EULA for a valid reason: a change in the law or a decision of an authority, security, the fight against cheating, the evolution of the Software (article 7.1), the arrival on a new platform, the clarification of a clause. It may not modify in this way the price or the essential characteristics of the Service outside the cases that the law permits.
18.2. It informs you at least thirty days before the entry into force of a new version, by email or in the Launcher, with a summary of the changes. The Launcher presents the new version to you at its next start-up, and asks you to accept it in order to continue playing.
18.3. If you refuse the new version, you may terminate the EULA and the Terms of Use free of charge before its entry into force; the sums paid in advance for what will not be provided to you are refunded to you, under the conditions of the Terms of Sale.
18.4. A shorter period may apply when a modification is imposed by the law, by an authority or by a threat to security; the Publisher then gives you the reason.
18.5. The successive versions of the EULA and their dates remain available upon simple request to support@afterlife-game.com, and will be published on the Site.
19. Transfer of the agreement
19.1. You may not assign the EULA, nor the rights that it gives you.
19.2. You agree now that the Publisher may transfer the EULA to the company that will operate the Game — in particular the company Reloaders, which the creator of the Game is setting up for this purpose — or to any company that takes over the operation of the Game, provided that this transfer does not diminish your rights. The transfer is notified to you by email at least thirty days in advance; you may then terminate the EULA free of charge.
20. Applicable law, complaints, mediation and courts
20.1. The EULA is governed by French law. If you reside in another country, this choice does not deprive you of the protection afforded to you by the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
20.2. Send any complaint to support@afterlife-game.com; the Publisher replies to you within one month.
20.3. During the Alpha, which is free of charge, the Publisher sells nothing: no consumer mediator (médiateur de la consommation) has been designated. It will designate one before any sale, and its name will appear here; you will then be able to use it free of charge, without ever being obliged to do so before going to court.
20.4. You may bring proceedings, at your choice, before the court of the place where you were living at the time of your acceptance of the EULA or of the harmful event, before that of the registered office of the Publisher, or before any other court having jurisdiction under the law; if you reside in another Member State of the European Union, you may bring proceedings before the courts of your domicile. The Publisher may only bring proceedings against you before the courts of the State in which you are domiciled.
20.5. No clause of the EULA imposes arbitration on you, makes you waive a collective or individual legal action, or reduces the time limits available to you to take action.
21. Miscellaneous provisions
21.1. Language. The EULA is drafted in French. If it is also offered to you in another language and the two versions differ, the version that is most favourable to you applies.
21.2. If a clause is declared null or deemed unwritten (réputée non écrite), the other clauses continue to apply.
21.3. The fact that the Publisher does not rely on a breach does not prevent it from relying on it later.
21.4. The Publisher writes to you at the email address of your Account and informs you in the Launcher. You can reach it at support@afterlife-game.com, including to report a security vulnerability.
Annex A — What the Software writes, reads and sends
Situation recorded on 3 October 2026 on Launcher 1.0.9 and Client 0.4.22, updated on 13 October 2026 for Launcher 1.0.10. This annex summarises; the privacy policy describes the corresponding data processing.
A.1. The Launcher, on your computer (folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\NebulaLauncher\)
| What is written | Why |
|---|---|
| Your sign-in token, encrypted by Windows and bound to your Windows session | Keeping you signed in |
| The email address of your last sign-in, encrypted by Windows | Pre-filling the sign-in screen; erased when you sign out or delete your Account |
Your choice of language (langue.txt), which the Client also reads | Displaying the Launcher and the Game in the chosen language |
The record of your acceptance of the EULA and of the Terms of Use (textes-acceptes.txt): their version, their fingerprint, the date and the time | Presenting them to you only once per version (article 3.3) |
| The version, the location and the fingerprint of the executable of the Client | Installing, updating, checking integrity (article 8.3) |
| The Client, the archive of its version, a temporary folder during an Update | Playing; reinstalling without downloading everything again |
| A log (1 MB, then renewed), in which sensitive information is masked | Understanding an error; it only reaches us if you send it to us |
| The report of a serious crash, waiting to be sent | Allowing us to fix the crash; deleted once sent |
| An exchange file, next to the Launcher, during its Update | Replacing the Launcher with its new version |
The copy of your data (Documents\nebula-compte-<date>.json) | Only if you request it |
A.2. The Client, on your computer
| What is written | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your sign-in token, encrypted with a key derived from an identifier of your computer, and your email address, in plain text | Windows registry, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DefaultCompany\Alho Proto (the working name of the Game during the Alpha) | Reopening your session; erased when the Client finds that the session is closed |
| Your username, your faction, your ship, your equipment, your sector, the tutorial step, your key bindings and display settings | same registry key | Restoring your state and your settings |
The logs of the Game (Player.log, nebula-client.log) | %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\DefaultCompany\Alho Proto\ | Understanding an error; they only reach us if you attach them to a report |
The route of your ship (Carte\…, 4 MB at most) | same folder | Drawing the map; never sent |
The Client also reads an identifier of your computer, provided by the engine of the Game, to make the key that encrypts your token: it does not leave your computer.
A.3. What goes over the network
| Exchange | With whom | When | What is transmitted |
|---|---|---|---|
| Checking the version of the Launcher, its signature and its Updates | servers of the Publisher | at each start-up | your IP address, necessary for any connection |
| Sign-in, sessions, two-factor authentication, Access Key | authentication server of the Publisher | at sign-in and during use | email address, password (encrypted in transit), six-digit code, tokens |
| Checking and downloading the Client, news | servers of the Publisher | when the Launcher opens, every five minutes, before playing, at installation | your sign-in token |
| Crash reports of the Launcher | servers of the Publisher | automatically, at the sign-in that follows a crash | type, message and location of the error, versions of the Launcher and of Windows, masked, with your sign-in token |
| Online play | servers of the Game | while you play | a single-use connection ticket; the position, the orientation and the speeds of your ship, about thirty times per second; your game commands; your chat messages; the IP address and the port of your connection |
A.4. To erase everything from your computer
- In the Launcher, sign out or delete your Account: the token and the address that the Launcher keeps are erased, and all your sessions are closed, including that of the Game. The Client erases its own at its next launch.
- Delete the file of the Launcher and the folder
%LOCALAPPDATA%\NebulaLauncher\. - Delete the folder
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\DefaultCompany\Alho Proto\and the registry keyHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DefaultCompany\Alho Proto.
Annex B — Health warning
In substance:
- Precautions to take in all cases: avoid playing if you are tired or if you lack sleep; play in a well-lit room, with a screen at moderate brightness; stay at a good distance from the screen; take a break of ten to fifteen minutes every hour.
- Epilepsy warning: some people may have an epileptic seizure, sometimes with a loss of consciousness, when they are exposed to certain strong light stimulation: a rapid succession of images, the repetition of simple geometric figures, flashes, explosions. If you, or a member of your family, have ever shown symptoms related to epilepsy, consult a doctor before playing. Stop playing immediately and consult a doctor if, while playing, you experience dizziness, a disturbance of vision, twitching of the eyes or muscles, a loss of consciousness or an involuntary movement.
